The Roland CY cymbals are HANDS DOWN better than anything else. The CY-14 is absolutely stellar in its weight, responsiveness, feel and triggering. Roland knows what they are doing with electronic percussion, and this cymbal is the gold standard for e-cymbals. I have never had mis-triggering issues, the zones work flawlessly, and the choke feature works 100% of the time. Excellent product – even if it is pricey. If you are serious about electronic drums, don’t sell your cymbals short. They represent a key element of expression. Don’t bother with anything else – I already have. I can tell you from experience that if you purchase a cheaper product, you will spend more money in the long run because you will end up replacing them. Save up and go with these and you will make the investment once.

I just got a couple if the CY14s as a replacement for my POS Hart crashes. These are really top notch quality. They trigger 100% of the time and feel more like the real thing. Take it from me. I’m so glad to dump these Hart Ecymbal IIs I want everyone to know not to waste their money and spend the little extra for Roland. You won’t regret it.

Electronic cymbal that feels like a cymbal!

I got two of these cymbals with the TD-9SX kit I purchased. I’m about to buy a third, and am amazed at how well these cymbals play. It does take some module tweaking to adjust their sensitivity and crosstalk parameters (mostly due to stand vibration), but once that’s done, these cymbals play flawlessly. I’ve been doing swells, chokes and hammering on these for weeks now with no fear of them failing on me. For the price, you can even afford to keep a spare on hand, unlike the PD-series pads.

The first drumset I bought was the Roland TD-KV which came with 2 CY-8 symbols, and now I’m buying my third. I started out on electronic drums because I live in an apartment and wanted to be able to play without disturbing others. What I got was that and more. The drums sound absolutely fantastic and the feel is phenomenal. These cymbals especially amazed me with the feel and the swinging motion. The dual trigger also opens up a world of different sounds you can use. It’s a fantastic product. These features leave me with one last question, why go acoustic when you have electronic?

Great Bass Trigger Pad

I have owned this KD8 for over a year now with excellent results. I use a double pedal with no problems. I have a TD-6 so I adjusted the pad sensitivity for the double pedal. If you use a good bass pedal ( I use Pearls Eliminator pedals) you won’t have a rocking problem with the KD8. I do recommend that you use a drum carpet on the floor or it will creep badly. I wanted to upgrade to a KD-85 , but I’ve heard nothing but peoples nightmares with the product. If I do upgrade, it will be with a KD-120.

I have been kicking the heck out of two of these for 1-1/2 years, 3 to 4 days a week. I play heel up and bury the beater. Mine look a little rough and are pushed in where the beater hits, but continue to trigger perfectly. Very stable using a single or double pedal if setup properly. You can easily grab this off the stage, pedal and all and put it in the truck. I prefer this to my KD-120 and a spare is easy to carry. If you like the feel from this type of trigger, there is nothing any better. Take care.
