The differences between the TD-4 and the TD-9KX are as follows.

The TD-9KX has a more feature filled sound module than the TD-4 and the TD-9KX comes with all mesh drum heads. The TD-9KX is perfect for a more professional player due to the advanced features of the sound module. The TD-4 range is also a perfectly great drum kit with a less feature filled sound module and the option of upgrading to all mesh heads with the TD-4SX kit.
